Letter from the Federal Ministry of the Interior – Entry via resettlement basically possible again

In a letter of 13 August 2020 to the ministries and senate administrations of the Länder responsible for residence rights, the Federal Ministry of the Interior, Building and Homeland Affairs (BMI) points out further exceptions to the entry possibilities for certain groups of persons currently restricted by the COVID 19 pandemic.
According to the letter, the exceptions now also include persons who need international protection or protection on humanitarian grounds. As a result, resettlement and humanitarian admissions are now generally possible again.
At this stage, it is not known when resettlement and humanitarian reception programmes will actually be able to resume.
